An idea came to me the other day on how to really stick it to the RIAA. If you're unaware, earlier in the week they sued several more people for copyright violations. One of the people sued was a 12 year old girl. In the end her mother agreed to pay them $2000.
The idea that came to me, however, is relatively simple. Knowing similar unrelated situations have occurred on the net, I figured this may actually do well legally and really tick of the RIAA.
The idea is simple. If someone set up an on line fund, using
PayPal as a medium, thousands of people could donate small amounts and give this girl & her family the $2000. Furthermore, if in fact more than $2000 was raised, the family would in turn actually make a profit off of this whole situation.
While I can't be the one to set this up, if someone out there did, the RIAA could be screaming mad, and there would be little to nothing they could do about it (I believe). Being this would be a simple donation, and being that it would be independent of the RIAA, it would be no different than having a friend give them some money.
At any rate, this is my idea, if someone could set this up, it would be a way we ALL could take part in sticking it to the RIAA. For obvious reasons, it seems that we would not be able to do this for everybody being sued. But being this case is so unique, I think it would be the best start, at the very least...
