I was looking for some info on the net and ran across
this.
There is an accusation that Bush knew about 9/11, and they site the following comment from one of his Speeches:
"...And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, 'There's one terrible pilot.' And I said, 'It must have been a horrible accident.'"
Being the Democrats always seem to play up the misuse of words and grammatical mistakes in his speeches, did anybody ever stop to think that maybe his statement that he saw the first plane was a mistake? One thing he no doubtedly saw was the result of the first plane (before the second hit). If you replace the "
...I saw an airplane hit the tower..." with "I saw the result of the first plane hitting the tower", this speech is then correct.
If you think back, how clearly do you remember seeing the second plane hitting the tower? How many times did you see the video? I think nobody can honestly remember how many different times & angles we saw of the second plane hitting the tower on that day alone. It's an easy mistake to make, especially if you try to think about the specifics of what happened and when.
I remember hearing about all that happened (I was at work), but for the life of me cannot specifically remember if both towers had been hit by the time I first heard about it, or if I heard about the first, then the second...
The speech this was quoted from was most likely not fully rehearsed. 9/11 was chaotic, and I think its difficult for most of us to remember the exact order of events clearly. The level of emotional distress that many of us experienced make the details really hard to get clear. It's like the old attach: If 3 people witness a car accident, and you ask each of them individually what happened, you will get 3 different stories...
If in fact Bush knew what was going to happen before the day began, I would expect information like this wouldn't "slip" out, as the site claims here...
