Motorola's iTunes Phone on the Rocks
Motorla had planned on debuing their iTunes phone this last week, however they have delayed them...
Though reasons wern't exactly forth comming from Motorola, it didn't take long for the buzz to get out...
It boils down to this: Providers (Cingular, Verizon, or Europe's Vodafone) want to charge cell phone users for their downloads. What the iTunes phone allows them to do is take music they already purchased, or will purchase from iTunes Music Store, then copy thoes songs directly to the phone. What this means to the phone providers is: They aren't getting a piece of that pie...
So it's us users left holding the bag. I was hoping that if the phone was released in Europe soon, that hopefully by the time my current contract is up, I will be able to get a nice iTunes phone. Being I already own an iPod, an iBook, and have been a faithful mac user all these years, the thought of an iTunes phone is extremely appealing...
But now I can only wait & hope these providers get over their insecurity and realize they shouldn't be allowed to dominate every thing that goes into a cell phone...
