Well, my fiance got another call from someone offering "free money" (literally). He claimed he worked for the US Government and that my fiance's household qualified for an $8000 grant that did not need to be paid back. She told the guy to call me, and by the time the call was over I was cracking up...
I asked him who he worked for, and he said he worked for the US Government department of Human Resources, located in Las Vegas Nevada. I thought it funny that a department of Human Resources was calling my fiance...
I then asked her how she qualified for the grant... He proceeded to tell me she has received a good rating with a US Credit Bureau... In the work I do, I have run across several credit Bureau's, so I asked him which one, and he said THE US Credit Bureau. I was a little unfamiliar with that one, but I responded "Oh, OK"...
I then asked what she did to qualify for this grant... He said she has been (or her household has been) in good financial standing. Always paying her bills in full and on time. And he listed various other stuff...
Half the stuff he ended up listing could not even possibly apply to her.. While her household may qualify for these things, she just so happens to be a live-in housekeeper & secretary. So if anybody in that household should be getting the call, it should NOT be her!!! I started laughing when he finished and he said "you think this is funny?" I told him it was in fact very funny... I told him if he knew what I did, he would be laughing too... And told him my fiance was probably cracking up at that moment as well...
Oh, I guess I should also mention this guy had a thick foreign accent...
I told him to put me and my fiance on to their DO NOT CALL list. He said "So you don't want the money?" I told him "good guess" and he proceeded to hang up...
So I basically told the guy to put me and my fiance on to a do not call list. I don't think that matters too much, however, as I've no doubt this was not a legitimate phone call. I'm willing to bet the call didn't even originate from within the United States...
I don't know what she did to get her number on these guys lists, but she keeps getting these calls... So I guess I'll just keep having fun at their expense... May as well make the most of it, you know...

Oh, I did a quick search on the net after typing this up,
this page details an almost identical thing to what the guy told me... Some of the information he gave me was different, but he did say he worked for the US Government, and he was located in Las Vegas. He also had an Indian accent... He never actually got to ask for my bank information though, as I kept asking way too many questions way too quickly...
