My fiance just called me to tell me about a phone call on her cell phone she got...
She got a call from someone with a slight accent saying she had been selected to receive a $5000 payment which she wouldn't need to pay back...
They then said all they needed was some info to sign her up "okay?"...
She, not being fully fluent in English, said she didn't understand. When he repeated the information, she then said she didn't want to sign up for anything...
The person then said "well then F#$% You!"
My fiance then, not being fully sure of what he said, said "I don't understand what you are saying." To which he repeated his original spiel of her needing to sign up.
Then, she, having understood that part of it (but not understanding his response, or at least was unsure she understood it), repeated she didn't want to sign up for anything...
The guy then, again repeated the "well then F#$% You!"
She then said "thanks for your courtesy..." and the guy hung up...
I have to assume it was a scam, as no company in their right mind would work this way...
I'm wishing she had told them to call me, as I would have had a field day... I figured if they asked to "sign me up" I would do stuff like telling them my first name is
Ska and my last name was
Martist (Skam-artist, get it?)...
