UTC - Eating A Banana Is Now Officially Racist
      Sorry about the snacks

      I can't believe this...

On January 15th there was a civil rights march in Columbus. Police were on duty for 8 or more hours during this march, so were given snacks...

Apparently one of the foods available to the police officers were bananas... And this, apparently, offended someone...

You see, she explained that them eating a banana was somehow a reference to calling blacks apes...

Apparently the fact that bananas are a healthy snack, and one of the easiest fruits to eat (not to mention the most consumed fruit in the entire country) had nothing to do with why they were eating them in this person's head...

So the mayor of Columbus, after receiving a complaint from this person, wrote an official apology to this person, and anybody else who may have been offended, for some of the officers choice of eating a banana...

As I said in our telephone conversation, I am sorry you found Columbus police officers eating bananas on the street when you arrived in Columbus for the protest. Let me assure you there was no intent to offend. The officers needed some nutrition after standing long hours on the street and they particularly needed the potassium available in bananas and some other fruits.

There was no thought of insulting or offending anyone and perhaps this was thoughtless on our part. In any case, let me offer my sincere apology for anything our officers may have done that gave offense to you or anyone else.

I really don't know what to say here, this is beyond anything resembling intelligence... I'm incapable of wrapping my head around this... I always here crazy things about political correctness reaching new lows, and usually think it can't get any worse than this. Then something like this happens which then correct my view...

The fact that this person is apparently trying to make it so I can't eat a banana in public. I would start laughing if this person is sent to the hospital with a potassium deficiency... It does happen, I experienced it one time myself... Though I wonder if it was unreasonable for the doctor to tell me to eat more bananas...

UTC - Criticizing Hypocrisy In A Hypocritical Manner... LOL..
Grrr! Un-Christianlike Christians and Other Random Grrrs

I actually find this amusing, the author is being hypocritical in his listing of what he call hypocrisy...

Grrr! to all the hypocritical 'Christians' whose knee-jerk reaction to my opinion about a piece of film called 'The Passion of the Christ' a few weeks ago caused them to blow a gasket and presume to know what's in my heart and soul.

Who the hell are you to judge others and condemn them to an eternity in Hell anyway? Classic Self-Righteons, that's what you are, and that's all I'm going to say about that subject.

So, lemme get this strait. This guy is criticizing Christians because they criticized him??? He's saying Christians have not right to criticize him but in turn he's asking "Who the hell are you to judge others?" This statement is in fact a judgment call of those he says are judging him. For those a little weary on this part, the "who the hell are you" part points to analyzing -- aka judging -- the people to whom he's referring. Also the statement "Classic Self-Righteons" followed by the "that's what you are" is a blatant criticism and name call...

So there are only 2 possibilities here if you think about it:

      1) This guy is a Christian who is in turn doing in general what he is accusing others of doing specifically to him. This is hypocrisy at it's clearest...

      2) This guy is not a Christian. He feels justified in criticizing them because they've done it to him. However, he also feels they should not have had the right to do so in the first place. So basically he feels it's OK for him to criticize them, but they can't criticize him. This is hypocrisy in that you can never expect others, regardless of their religious beliefs, to live by some other code than you're willing to live by. When you do things you feel others don't have the right to, regardless of circumstance, you too are encapsulating hypocrisy...

You really shouldn't judge people and their religion using religion as the basis to justify why they shouldn't be judging you...

      --
Also, to clarify, because I'm sure someone will misinterpret...

I'm not attempting to judge him for judging, I'm simply posting this to point out his hypocritical manner of doing so... As I really dislike hypocrisy...

    UTC - Unrelated Comments
I'm transfering some unrelated comments to this blog, as they don't fit in with the topic of the blog they were posted under. This is a series of comments that I'm copy-pasting here...

      FAR RIGHT IS NAZI. PERIOD.

      From Me
      Ummm, uhhh, what???

I'm a little confused, the comment makes little to no sense... Not to mention it seems to have NO relation to the article the comment is posted to...

      >FAR RIGHT IS NAZI. PERIOD.

Actually the liberal left is closer to being Nazi than the right. They are the ones who believe in silencing people who disagree with them... It happens more and more every day... Take a look at thefire.org, 99% of the stuff listed are cases where liberals in the school system (since they overwelmingly dominate the education system) try to silence students who disagree with them...

Calpoly threw away $40,000 of tax payers money because they took action against a (conservative) student who was well within his rights, and managed to trump up charges against him. After he decided to sue the school to get his legal fees paid, and the event removed from his record, he won big time. Calpoly was forced to give away $40,000 of money that us Californian's are required to pay, simply because they tried to illegally silence a student...

For the record, the definition of Fascism is:
A System of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship. The definition fits liberal's actions and goals to a tee...

Basically you have your view backwards...

      > Basically you have your view backwards...

Oh, so all the groups who want to ban books because they have sex or "magic" in them are LIBERAL groups. Thanks for explaining that, I must have been all mixed up. I thought the hard core Christians were conservative. How could I have been so wrong?

Don't be stupid. The far left and the far right are both ridiculous. To pretend that one kind of extreme is too far but the other extreme is not is either hypocritical or dishonest. ANYONE who wants to control other people to that extent should be stopped from doing so. Why attach a qualifying statement to that?

It appears most of the books listed on this page were not allowed in ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS! I would have to assume for this to effect you that you must still be going to one... Parents have an absolute right as to what they don't what their elementary aged children to read...

If you have children who you want to read these books, buy them a copy yourself...

Ahem... Its easy to say such things... Anybody can make generic clams against anyone... I've documented countless incidents of liberal hippocracy in my blog throughout the past. Other than comlaing about what some people are deciding they don't what their children to read, you haven't given much support for your aguement...

Anybody wishing to further this should post under this blog...

UTC - Wanita Renea Young Is Insane!!!
Cookie klatch lands girls in court

      This is beyond ridiculous...

Two teenage girls decided one summer's evening to skip a dance where there might be cursing and drinking to stay home and bake cookies for their neighbors.

      ...

Inside one of the nine scattered rural homes south of Durango that got cookies that night, a 49-year-old woman became so terrified by the knocks on her door around 10:30 p.m. that she called the sheriff's department. Deputies determined that no crime had been committed.

Basically this woman apparently went psycho because someone knocked on her door at 10:30 PM... The two girls left cookies, as a nice gesture...

This is an amazingly ridiculous statement by the insane woman herself, replying to the letter that was given to her & her family in apology:

Young wouldn't sign the agreement. She said the families' apologies rang false and weren't delivered in person. The matter went to court.

So basically she is saying that these girls only goal for delivering fresh home baked cookies was to cause terror. I'm no expert in this type of thing, but if I wanted to terrorize someone, I WOULD NOT LEAVE COOKIES ON THEIR PORCH!!!

I hope this woman feels superior now, because if she doesn't the whole farce was a waste to everyone...

I'm going to laugh if a story is posted next week that kids in the neighborhood start knocking on her door in the middle of the night and run off as a prank on a regular basis... Basically this is what she is opening herself up to...

      [UPDATE] - 02/10/05
Victims of 'Cookie Monsters' Get Hate Mail, Phone Threats

Welp, it looks like it didn't take long for national attention to catch up with them... As I remotely predicted, they left themselves open for this... Though I didn't quite expect this extreme an outcome...

      Wanita's husband, Herb, stated:
We have got horrendous phone calls, tons of hate mail, threats to our life...

But I have to say I'm not supprised... Though the most interesting snipet in this article is:
The parents of one of the teens asked for a restraining order against Herb Young, accusing him of making harassing phone calls. He admitted calling the Ostergaards once after hearing the teens were talking to a newspaper and at one point said "the gloves were off," which apparently was taken as a threat.

I would classify that as a threat myself... Also consider for a second that this is what he admitted to saying... He very well may have said more that he won't or hasn't admitted to...

      [UPDATE] - 02/17/05
      'Cookie Monster' Case Gets Nastier

There's one interesting quote from Mrs. Young in this:
All this over cookies... Our home is like a funeral parlor. They've robbed us of our laughter. My spirit, my soul, is damaged.

I hate to tell you this but try taking a little responsibility for your own actions for once. There are two sides to every coin, and ignoring the opposite side doesn't make it go away... The only thing "they've" done is try to leave cookies on your porch as a sign of good will.

If you're so paranoid that someone can't even do something as simple as that without causing you a nervous break down, perhaps you should build a 50 foot cement wall around your house... Or perhaps you would be better off committed to a hospital...

This, of coarse doesn't even take into account the fact that your husband made harassing phone calls following this whole thing... So stop trying to sound like your the sole victim and an angel in this whole situation...

UTC - Gays & Lesbians OK, Christians NOT OK - Comment Followup
Torgo - The Torgo Blog: Gays & Lesbians OK, Christians NOT OK!

I received the following comment, so am taking the time & effort to post the response as a full blog entry. To explain the situation, there was a Christmas parade where a gay and lesbian float was allowed, but a Christian float WAS NOT! The anonymous comment posted was as follows:

Quit your whining. You and you whole damn religion whine if you dont get your way or someone else gets what you want. If you wanted a stupid float, why didnt you go ask to put one in the parade? Why didnt you protest the parade? You didnt do either and now you just sit on your site and whine. Besides gay and lesbians are what people care and want to hear about. Not you. "It makes me wonder how much time will pass before any admited Christians will be forced to go to the middle of a stadium, where lions will be released..." Does it make you feel high and mighty quoting things from the bible? Do you think your vague reference is going to make people care? If your going to stand up for you religion, then do it in real life and stop being an idiot.

      My reply is as follows:

Boy, I have to say the above comment is the most blatantly hypocritical and narrow minded comment I've had posted to my blog to date... I may as well analyze this step by step...

      > Quit your whining. You and you whole damn religion
      > whine if you dont get your way or someone else gets
      > what you want.

There's a right to freedom of speech in this country. It's nice to know you believe that Gay and Lesbians have the right to be in a parade, but I don't have the right to say biggoting Christians is wrong.

Why in the world are so many people blind to the fact that being gay or lesbian is celebrating sexual choice. Next thing you know they're going to have an orgy or s&m float, because basically celebrating these things are on the exact same level as celebrating other sexual preferences...

      > If you wanted a stupid float, why didnt you go
      > ask to put one in the parade?

Because tens of thousands already did, and basically I did as well, as in this blog. Realize, a float was ALREADY MADE, however they simply WOULD NOT LET IT IN!

      > Why didnt you protest the parade?

I did, I took absolutely no part in it... And I spoke up against it here... The parade did not happen where I live, and in my current financial situation I had no way of going to where the parade was. I also could not afford to take any time off work... If you would like to fund any future endeavors of mine, then maybe we can make an arrangement.

      > You didnt do either and now you just sit
      > on your site and whine.

Actually you are being a little blind sided here. If I hadn't done either, then how in the world are you able to post here? Obviously I publicly stated my view, otherwise you would have never been able to reply to my view here...

      > Besides gay and lesbians are what people care and
      > want to hear about. Not you.

Boy, talk about self centered. It's nice to know you believe I'm the only person in this entire country who feels this way. It's also nice to know you feel you have the right to dictate what people do and don't want. I hate to break it to you though, there are millions & millions of people in this country who share my view. You aut to climb out from under the rock your screaming from...

      > Does it make you feel high and mighty quoting things
      > from the bible? Do you think your vague reference is
      > going to make people care? If your going to stand up
      > for you religion, then do it in real life and stop
      > being an idiot.

Does it make you feel high and mighty to post this here, trying to attack me? Do you think your vague references here are going to make me, or other readers of my blog care?

I am standing up for my religion. Obviously I do have a voice because, again, you would not be posting here if you hadn't read my views first hand...

You also post this here as if I made this post weeks after the parade simply to complain. I posted this when the story first surfaced, several weeks BEFORE the parade. This blog is one of the only ways I have to get my voice heard. And again, it obviously worked...

This post was simply to express my view. If you believe it's wrong for me to do this, then I really don't know what to say. As if this is the case, you are simply confirming that what I detailed in the article is happening. I posted this to speak up, and you feel I shouldn't have expressed my views... I'm getting the feeling that you think I should be pushed into the middle of a stadium...

My big issue I had here was not that a gay and lesbian float was in the parade, rather it was that they allowed this float in while directly excluding the Christian float. They were allowing people to express sexual views without allowing others to express faith views. Had they allowed the Christian float into the parade, I wouldn't have complained.

I simply was stating the obvious, the parade allowed a Gay and Lesbian float, while telling those making the Christian float to F off...
